Onboarding for higher-risk businesses

Some businesses need more due diligence than a standard application allows for. We assess each one individually, on its licences, ownership, controls and source of funds.

What we look at

You deal with people who read the file. Where the risk calls for it, we apply enhanced due diligence and senior approval before any account details are issued.

Licences
The licence or authorisation your business relies on, who issued it, and the markets it covers.
Ownership
Every layer of the structure, up to the individuals who own and control it.
Source of funds and wealth
Where the money in the business comes from, with evidence that matches the story.
Expected activity
Who pays you, who you pay, in which currencies and at what volumes. We review payments against this once you are live.
Controls
Your own policies for the risks in your sector, such as age verification, responsible gaming or export permits.

What we do not accept

Higher-risk does not mean anything goes. Our compliance statement sets out how we apply these rules.

  • Sanctioned persons, entities and countries
  • Shell banks
  • Unlicensed operators in sectors that require a licence
  • Any activity that is illegal where it is carried out or offered
  • Anonymous or bearer-share structures
  • Owners or controllers who will not be identified
  • Unexplained third-party funding

Common questions

Does applying mean we will be accepted?

No. Every application goes through due diligence, and we decline businesses we cannot get comfortable with. If something is missing, we tell you what we need.

Why do you ask for so many documents?

The documents are what allow us to assess your business individually. We ask for them once, keep them up to date through periodic reviews, and tell you at the start exactly what your structure requires.

Can you end a relationship after onboarding?

Yes. We monitor activity against what you told us to expect and review each client periodically. We may ask questions, hold a payment for review or end a relationship where our obligations require it.

Is CCYFX regulated?

CCYFX PAY INC is registered with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business. That is a registration, not a licence, and it is not an endorsement by FINTRAC or the Government of Canada. CCYFX is not a bank.
